Photography

The Process

A space to document my exploration into the world of cameras, composition, and editing with the main goals of:

  • Taking more photos and falling in love with the process again
  • Honing my approach of street photograph
  • Developing my own style of editing and colour grading
  • Formalizing my creative process of capturing, editing, and back-ups

Normally when we think of art, we think of the physical mediums: sketches, paintings, or sculptures. Meanwhile, I feel that photography is overlooked in our image saturated, digital lives. This is the reason, why film photography hasn’t been replaced all this time. Film’s tangibility and ability to capture imperfections in regular life makes it feel real and nostalgic. In fact, this feeling is enforced whenever I watch content from Serr or Expired Film Club. It’s truly inspiring to see their ability to reveal moments in time and evoke a feeling of history and dreaminess in each photo.

Ultimately, my goal in exploring photography is to act on my creative longing. Composition and lighting has always fascinated me, and now I feel like I finally have the tools to visualize and express how I see the world around me. I want to capture the mundane and document the little things that will matter years from now. I want to edit my photos to capture the feelings at the time. And I want to remember. I’m already a forgetful person and if I learned anything from the pandemic, is that life is punishingly short when you don’t take the time to slow down, and capture the little moments.
